IP Phone Systems – For Added Convenience
|
One of the latest developments in the communications industry is that of IP phone systems, or Voice Over Internet Protocol, more commonly referred to as VoIP. IP phone systems combine the functionality of traditional telephone, or landlines, and high speed Internet capabilities. The voice signals transmitted through a VoIP system are sent through high speed Internet connections, not the traditional telephone wires we so commonly think of. In order to get set up with a VoIP service, you will simply need a high speed, or broadband, Internet connection, and very little special equipment. Usually, if you wish to use the VoIP service with your traditional telephones, you will require a VoIP adapter, or an ATA. Otherwise, you can simply use a special VoIP telephone handset that works just like a normal phone. Since 2004 the amount of VoIP service users has grown exponentially. In fact, in 2004, there were only about 1.5 million VoIP users. By the end of 2008 there may be about 24 million VoIP users in the world. Perhaps the reason for such dramatic increases in the amounts of VoIP users is due to the incredible advances in technology as well as the added convenience the VoIP service can bring to many businesses and private residences. A VoIP system can make life much easier for the busy traveler or any business. When a business invests in a VoIP system for their communications solution, they are able to have just a few or even hundreds of handsets on the same network, regardless of where everyone in the network if physically located. So, for example, if your business has offices in New York, Miami, and London, everyone can be on the same VoIP network and dial through as if everyone was in the same building. And with the VoIP service, there is no delay since all calls are in real time. Not only is the VoIP phone system extremely convenient and simple to use, but it is also a money saving investment. For traditional telephone services, residences and businesses alike usually spend anywhere between $40 and $100 per month for the basic features. This does not include long distance, international calling, or any additional features like voicemail, call waiting, or caller ID. With almost any VoIP service, customers will pay a base rate of about $20 to $40 per month, with many call features included as standard. In fact, to save even more, many customers choose to go with VoIP providers that have annual packages, which you can pay for up front, usually in the amount of about $199 to start. Technology has brought added convenience and ease to all of our lives and every aspect of communications. Every year, more and more advances are announced, including even better versions of the current VoIP services. Internet phone services have made communications between businesses and offshore offices so much easier. These services have also improved the ability for communications between family members and friends who would otherwise not be able to afford regular traditional long distance phone calls. |
