The Wi-Fi IP Phone – Is It The Wave Of The Future?

Today, with such major advances in communications technology, more and more people are turning to Wi-Fi IP phone services. Such phones services are available with a high speed or broadband Internet connection. This type of service is usually referred to as a VoIP telephone service. VoIP is an acronym standing for Voice Over Internet Protocol, in which voice signals are transmitted over an Internet connection. Any VoIP telephone system is a convenient and easy way to communicate both locally and long distance (including internationally) while saving money at the same time.

With many VoIP telephone services there is very little need for any extra equipment. In most cases, usually for residential VoIP customers, the service provider will send the customer an ATA, or VoIP adapter, which will allow the customer to use his or her existing traditional phone through the VoIP system. Usually, hooking up such an adapter involves plugging in just a few cables or cords. However, there are also plenty of special VoIP phones available. While these phones have special features and are designed specifically for use with the VoIP system, they work just like your regular telephone handset. Recently, there have been several models of wireless VoIP phones put out on the market.

One of the most popular Wi-Fi VoIP phones is the WirelessIP5000. This particular VoIP telephone model offers an IEEE 802.11 b wireless network. This type of network is key in offering crystal clear voice reception. Another very popular Wi-Fi VoIP phone is the ZyXEL Prestige 2000W v2 Wi-Fi VoIP. This phone also provides a network of IEEE 802.11 b wireless communications. These phones come equipped with many excellent and helpful features. Additionally, such phones allow for low cost calling with excellent voice quality. Many companies and businesses have switched to the use of VoIP systems rather than landlines. Part of the basis for this switch is that Wi-Fi VoIP phones do not compromise the voice quality during the calls while still allowing callers to reach out to clients all over the world. Businesses that have large call centers or call lists are prime candidates for the switch to the VoIP service.

Furthermore, many companies and residential customers have switched to VoIP telephone services because it is so cost effective. For a fraction of what it costs to have a traditional telephone landline, one could have an entire network of VoIP telephones. Usually, the traditional landline costs about $40 to $100 per month on average whereas a basic VoIP service can cost, on average, between $20 and $40. The charges for the VoIP services tend to include both local and long distance as well as special features which would normally cost extra such as caller ID, call waiting, and call forwarding.

If you have not already considered switching to an IP phone system for your home or business, you might want to do so. The system is not only easy to use and cost effective it is the wave of the future. In just a few years time, the VoIP telephone service may be the norm.
